Here are five things that made me smile, laugh, or sigh in contentment. The hope is that by keeping track of and sharing them here, I will continue to focus on the good things in life, of which there are so, so many, even if its metaphorically storming elsewhere..
So here are this week's Five Happy Things . . .
1. Malibu. We just returned from a wonderful RV get away to Malibu RV Park, which is situated on a bluff overlooking the ocean. Our views of the ocean were sublime, the weather was great for most of our stay, considering that it's winter, plus we hiked almost 20 miles during our visit, and enjoyed some pretty awesome food on a particularly balmy night at local fav Marmalade Cafe.

In addition to the beautiful ocean, our RV site also had wonderful sunrise and sunset views. It was hard to leave! |
2. Friends getting vaccinated. Our County is moving fast through it's 65+ population, and another vaccine site, UC Irvine, recently opened up a slew of available appointments, meaning that pretty much all of our senior friends not yet vaccinated were able to book their first round appointments as a result. For now this simply means a continued expansion of outdoor activities (hiking, biking, and kayaking) that we can enjoy with friends, as I'm still not vaccinated (I'm in the next tier to come online) and the variances continue to be of concern.
3. Power Crunch Bars. I love these bars, which I'm generally able to buy on sale for about $1.25 each. They make a good breakfast when combined with a banana, taste great, and are decently low in sugar and high in protein, meaning I don't experience any sudden changes in blood sugar after eating them.
A simple pleasure that never gets old.
Just recently I noticed a higher waist option, which was nice in that the lower rise jeans can necessitate a certain amount of tugging-action (LOL) over the course of a day, so I ordered seven new pair, pretty much every color available. With a 15% online coupon the pants came to just $16.99 a pair, and from prior experience I expect them to last for years and years. Plus they are super versatile, and can be worn with pretty much any footwear (flats, heels, boots) and paired with about a hundred different combinations of tops and sweaters.

That's it for me at the moment. What's making you happy this week?
Nice list and you look fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThere is currently about 5 pounds between me and these photos . . . working hard to get back there!
DeleteThanks for sharing about the power bars. I have been on the hunt to find something easy to take when I hike.
ReplyDeleteHi Jayne, I'm not sure I'd recommend the Power Crunch bars for hiking unless you're in cold weather country, or able to keep them chilled with an ice pack - they are coated and I think the coating would melt in heat.
DeleteTamara, I like your 5 things. You've had lots to smile about this week. The RV is new isn't it? Great view. My favorite look for your jeans is the high boot and button-down white shirt. That looks very put together and could go anywhere - well, except Florida, where we rarely layer anything. How, I wish. We are heading to Jekyll Island on Sunday, it will be cooler there, so maybe I'll take a scarf or two.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne, and yes, the RV is brand spanking new! This was our first trip out in it since picking it up in January. It has some nice features our other RV didn't - automatic hot water heater, small freezer, larger bathroom, and still fits in our garage when lowered. We love it!
DeleteYou made me laugh with your comment about Florida not necessitating layering very often. Only in summer can we get away with not layering here. Otherwise, out temps swing about 30 degrees between nighttime and daytime, so layers and then some here. Mostly sweaters vs jackets, however, so at least we have that. 😄
Enjoy your upcoming getaway, one of your favorite places if memory serves!
Gloria Vanderbilt's Amanda jeans work for me like your H&M jeans work for you. I'm a petite size and, by my own admission, I'm difficult to please when clothes shopping. (The styles! The prices!!!). When I came across these and found that they fit well, are comfortable to wear and last a long time, I bought another half dozen pairs the next time they went on sale, too. I live in jeans for six or seven months a year - finding a good look and a good fit are priceless. Oh, so envious of your gorgeous oceanfront campsite - and the new RV looks great! Post-COVID you need to head this way and color in some more states in the eastern half of the country!
ReplyDeleteYou have a good eye to have caught that map on the front of our RV, Mary! We’ve done a lot of east coast touring since our youngest daughter moved to the DC area, but mostly by car. It’s a long way from California by RV, and oh that flat as a pancake middle of the country, oof! Someday, though, if/when we transition from our home to a condo, we’ve talked about putting our possessions in storage and taking two years timetable the country in a Class C. I would love that!
DeleteYou look fabulous in those jeans!
ReplyDeleteYou are so kind, Cindy, thank you. 😊
