I am determined to stop living my life in slow to medium gear as a result of the pandemic, and move the throttle back to medium fast.
Not because I'm throwing safety precautions to the wind - far from it!!!!
But rather, because the world appears to be adjusting to our revised lifestyle, and wonderful pandemic-conscious things are beginning to appear that I am excited about trying out.
So I'm going to return to making seasonal bucket lists, a COVID-amended version at least. And understand that certain items might need to be scrapped on short notice. Reason being that here in California our governor has advised we are operating on a dimmer switch, meaning things will continue to be sped up and/or slowed down depending on the COVID new case and hospitalization numbers, often times at very short notice. So it seems prudent to remain flexible
2020 Summer Bucket List
1) Attend a SUP Yoga class. Oh my goodness, I am soooo excited at finding out about this online recently! I just signed up for an outdoor yoga class, and as I was perusing the yoga studio's website, I saw a reference to this class, which is held at our local harbor. Talk about the perfect pandemic activity - my own SUP, and lots of space between participants.
I cannot wait to do this!
2) Make an appointment with bathroom design consultant. We have three and a half bathrooms that need updating, plus a linen closet and laundry room. The look I'm going for in all is something like the photo below.
3) Attend a drive-in live concert. We purchased tickets to attend a Beetles tribute concert via our car, and I am very curious to see how it's going to work!
4) Try two new grilling recipes.
5) Try two new cocktail recipes.
6) Meet friends at our harbor for a socially-distanced picnic dinner. We've been going weekly on our own, and it has not been crowded whatsoever. So being able to establish a 6+ foot 'safe' zone between us and another couple is pretty much assured.
7) Explore Laguna Beach's new Forest Avenue outdoor dining promenade. An outside dining zone was created in June at considerable cost to the city, and we want to check it out and see how it looks/feels. Fingers crossed it appears well thought out and properly socially distanced, because Laguna Beach has a large number of fantastic eateries.
8) Refresh our used brick fireplace. Currently we have an attractive used brick fireplace, however it's not at all coastal looking. So I've been researching this, and as an alternative to re-tiling it, I'm going to try having it whitewashed first, to see if that achieves the updated coastal-fresh look I'm seeking. Fingers crossed!
9) Attend an organized bicycle club ride. Bicycling is pretty socially distanced already, plus the club I'm looking to ride with has a full page of safety protocols they will be following, including staggered starts and no group stops, so I'm feeling pretty comfortable about scheduling a ride with them.
10) Run four miles. I haven't run consistently in years due to my ongoing tendinitis, but I recently discovered CBD, and the roller I purchased has done well in knocking down the pain when an episode occurs in my affected leg, so I'm feeling brave enough to give running yet another try.
It feels nice to finally have some things to look forward to!
Tamara, your SUP Yoga class sounds fascinating! Talk about challenging both your mind and your body while trying something new - wow! Please promise that you'll report back on that new adventure.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to try it out, but I am sure I will be more like those gals in the rear of the photo, who are lying on their backs. Those front gals? Goals!!!
DeleteLove this goal list. And, totally agree with wanting to try SUP yoga. Fun! I kayaked with my sister over the weekend, and it was a fantastic socially distanced activity. We had such a good time. I need to challenge myself to get creative. I need to do the same with kid activities. So far, they've been enjoying a lot of mountain biking with my dad.
ReplyDeleteI love kayaking! We go about once a week, roughly about six miles, and it is a great upper body workout. I took my five year old granddaughter out, and she did pretty good. No muscle in her strokes, because, five, but she was getting the overall form down fairly well, so I'm sure your boys would be great, plus have the muscle!
DeleteI also see lots of tweens and teens out on SUP's. But, surprisingly, and nicely, I actually see more tweens and teens, particularly boys, out fishing, so perhaps yet another idea?
