20 Things On My Summer Bucket List

Greetings, and welcome to 20 Things On My Summer Bucket List! This is my second list, and I think I learned from my first one, 20 Things On My Spring Bucket List, that I need to keep things just a tad simpler going forward, because, well, sometimes life happens!

We are in the home stretch of attempting to transition from our current home to a home by the beach, which will make a lot of the items on my summer bucket list super convenient to accomplish . . . wish us continued luck that we can actually pull this off!
And P.S. - Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of this post to see what other wonderful bloggers are joining in on this challenge. In addition to getting lots of wonderful ideas on how to add a little something-something to your upcoming summer, a few of the participants are from Down Under, meaning their lists are season reversed, which should be veeery interesting!

20 Things On My Summer Bucket List
  1. Read by the pool.
  2. Bike to the beach for breakfast.
  3. Watch a sunset.
  4. Attend a concert-in-the-park.
  5. Read three fluff-books (I generally lean toward slightly meatier material :-).
  6. Make sun tea.
  7. Blow bubbles with my granddaughter.
  8. See fireworks.
  9. Have a picnic at the beach.
  10. See a summer blockbuster.
  11. Make three new summer cocktails.
  12. Make three new summer salads.
  13. Make three new BBQ recipes.
  14. Make real-fruit popsicles.
  15. Lose five pounds.
  16. Buy three new sundresses.
  17. Get a pedicure (my first, would you believe?!?).
  18. Volunteer for a beach-oriented organization.
  19. Go backpacking.
  20. Visit three different Farmers Markets.

    1. Hi Christie, we haven't pulled it off yet, so don't be too envious . . . my experience is that the last few days are when things can start coming out of left field one never expected! (It's already started!)

Happy summer to you too, it's going to be fun to follow along with so many terrific bloggers on this!

  2. Hello Tamara, so excited for you with your upcoming move. I was pleased to find your new blog after you took a hiatus on the first one. Your initial blog was always fun, interesting and exciting as it pointed the way to me of the exciting phase of life called retirement. I'm really enjoying your new blog but have one request. I'm having trouble reading your links in orange to your postings and your blog list. Would you consider changing the font color? Thanks & please keep blogging. Sonja

    1. Thank you for your kind words, Sonja, and will try my best to revise sidebar links! I'm using the free Blogger template, which has limited customization, but will see what I can do.

Yes, retirement is exciting, isn't it? It can take a bit to complete the transition, almost three full years in my case, but once you do there is not an inkling of going back to that place called work ever, ever again. :-)

    1. Yeah for summer, right Natalie? Although, I think I get excited at every new season - we have to take what we can get here in pretty weather-consistent S. California!

    1. I definitely will Juhli, particularly in that the dresses will likely be from a new-to-me coastal clothing store near our new home. This is going to be such a season of change in so many levels.

  6. Yay for being in the home stretch! Great summer list, have fun getting your pedicure. There is an awesome concert in the park right near you, email me if you don't know what I'm talking about.

    1. Hi Sarah, Our first summer concert will be at Crown Valley on July 4th to listen to a Fleetwood Mac cover band. Any chance you and your family will be there???

  7. What a lovely list! Sounds like we have a bit in common! I wanted to put "have a picnic" on my list, but that will need to wait for autumn! Have a great summer! I look forward to reading your updates!

    1. Michael Ann, if we weren't moving I'd wait until fall coolness also for sure. But, since we'll be coastal (and therefore cool :-), it's perfect for our new location. I have the cutest picnic basket that has been simply languishing in the closet!

  8. Hi Tamara! I love your list and you will just love your pedicure. It took me more than 50 years to have my first but they are such a special treat especially in summer when we show our feet off in sandals. I just love blowing bubbles with my grandson so I smiled when I saw you had included that on your list. Have a fabulous Summer!

    1. Hi Sue, thank you for sharing that you too are very late to reconfigure game! I'm looking forward to the foot run the most. (They do rub your foot, right???)

We are with our girl now, and bubbles are On the schedule for tomorrow. :-)

    2. Make that late to the 'pedicure game' . . . Gosh darn Auto-correct!

  9. Nice bucket list! That's amazing that you can actually bicycle to the beach!

    1. Honestly, I'm still holding my breath that we pull it off - trying to sell one house while buying another is stress x 100! But once we are in, yes, bicycling to the beach from our house will be wonderful!

  10. We only live 30 mins to the beach but we'd live to live closer! Sounds like you have some very attainable and fun plans for the summer! Looking forward to the recipes you'll share as part of your updates!

    1. Sheila, we use to live 30 minutes away also, but that could easily double to an hour depending on traffic, a constant here in S. California.

I think our first official meal at the new house will be cocktails and a BBQ, and I'll be taking photos and sharing recipes for sure!

  11. Yours sounds like a perfect list… The ideal way to spend a summer.

Actually I do believe you've never had a Pedi because I've never had one either.

For me, it's because I'm weird and feel so uncomfortable having anyone work on my feet but I'm about to have to get over that! We'll have to compare notes.

    1. Hi Em, thanks for stopping in and leaving a comment!

Another pedicure virgin? I can't believe there are two of us! Speaking of which, I'd best hurry up and get mine done while there is still lots of summer to enjoy in sandals!
